Creating a compelling battle system for a Christian manga comes with a unique set of challenges, especially when your goal is to honor biblical values while still delivering intense, emotional, and strategic action. At Arc Hound Studios, we wrestled with the question: How do you include violence in a story built on the teachings of Jesus?

Our answer starts with a foundational belief: violence for the sake of cruelty or entertainment has no place in our work—but self-defense and the defense of others absolutely does.

​

The Bible tells us clearly:

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
—John 15:13, KJV

​

This verse doesn’t celebrate reckless violence, but rather the willingness to protect others—even to the point of sacrifice. That spirit of heroic love is at the very core of our battle system.

​

Even more compelling is Christ’s interaction with Roman soldiers. He never condemned their profession, despite its violent nature. When a centurion approached Jesus, asking Him to heal his servant, Christ was moved by his faith—not offended by his career:

“When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.”
—Matthew 8:10, KJV

Notice that Jesus didn't tell the centurion to abandon his role in the military. In fact, the Bible goes further by dedicating an entire chapter to another centurion named Cornelius. He was a Roman officer—a commander of over 100 soldiers, someone who likely saw battle and had to give orders in times of war. To achieve this rank in ancient Rome, Cornelius would have gone through years of military service, including conflict, discipline, and likely bloodshed.

And yet God chose this man to be the first Gentile convert in Christian history:

“There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.”
—Acts 10:1-2, KJV

Cornelius gave alms, which in biblical terms refers to acts of mercy—charitable gifts to the poor, expressions of compassion and justice. 

 

God honored Cornelius so much that He sent an angel to him directly:

“Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.”
—Acts 10:4, KJV

Then, the apostle Peter—yes, the same Peter who walked with Christ—entered the home of this Gentile warrior and witnessed the Holy Spirit fall upon his household. God Himself validated Cornelius, a man of war, because his violence was not rooted in sin, but in duty—and his heart belonged to God.

Our Approach: A Battle System Rooted in Righteous Defense

In our manga, combat exists, but not for spectacle or brutality. It's shaped by the context of self-defense and the preservation of life. Our characters fight when they must protect others, defend the innocent, or resist oppressive forces. Even our "Star Beasts" and the mysterious "Heroic Energy" are tied to the idea of inner conviction and moral alignment, not just raw power.

While we won’t reveal the deep mechanics or lore just yet (to preserve the surprises of the story), know that every blow in our battle system has a purpose—a moral weight behind it. We know many Christians are totally fine with fictional combat, but for those who are sensitive to the portrayal of violence, we’ve gone the extra mile to make sure our story reflects godly values at every turn.
